DEED - Designing Embodied Education in Dance Network
DEED - Designing Embodied Education in Dance Network
CRACE - Centre for Research in Arts and Creative Exchange, School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Roehampton
12-14th September 2024
The two-hour workshop presentation on the 14th September invites peer practitioners, researchers and research students to an informal sharing and evaluation of tentative design principles for Embodied Education in Dance. Through a participatory research practice, the 'Designing Embodied Education in Dance (DEED) network' explores how integrating embodied perspectives into pedagogy, creative practice, management and research can contribute to educational reform of dance in Higher Education (BA, MA, MFA, PhD).
Consisting of network members coming from diverse geographical and cultural contexts, the network will present the results of a three-day in-person 'harvest meeting' in which the (embodied) findings of the research that so far has taken place online during the last years is collected. The workshop invites participants to an informal discussion and evaluation of the principles, opening a broader discourse on embodied solutions for educational reform in dance, that will propel the findings forward.
The outcomes will be published via a dedicated research website documenting the discourse on designing embodied education and opening a platform to enable a wider discussion.
The network welcomes practitioners and researchers interested in embodied education, from Dance as well as the Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences and beyond, to reflect and think together with us. The workshop is followed by the opportunity for informal discussion/networking over tea/coffee.
The network meeting and the sharing event is made possible by The Southlands Methodist Trust, and the Centre for Research in Arts and Creative Exchange, University of Roehampton.
